Two consecutive losses and the 2-3 Dallas Cowboys are not panicking as they hit the road to face the Carolina Panthers Sunday afternoon at Bank of American Field.

Dallas mismanaged the final :30 seconds of clock in their 31-29 loss to the Baltimore Ravens last week, and forced second-year kicker Dan Bailey to kick a 51-yard field goal when he had never attempted one beyond 39 yards.

The Cowboys had :20 seconds left in the game and enough time to run one more play to get Bailey closer, but there was no urgency at the line of scrimmage and Dallas took a timeout with :04 seconds remaining.

This negated Dallas’ top offensive effort of the season, as they gained 227 rushing yards, were 8-for-15 on third down, and tied a team record with 79 plays from scrimmage.

The 1-4 Panthers are also off to a disappointing start, with second-year quarterback Cam Newton well behind the pace he set for himself in his record-breaking rookie year.

Carolina comes back from their bye week after dropping three straight games, most recently to NFC West upstart Seattle in a 16-12 loss.

Newton went 12-for-29 passing and accounted for 141 of the Panther’s 190 total yards against Seattle. Carolina’s offensive line also allowed Newton to be sacked four times for a loss of 33 yards, and he was hit another five times by the Seahawks pass rush.

Felix Jones will start at running back in place of DeMarco Murray, who sprained his left foot against Baltimore.

Jones filled in well for Murray in the second half last week. He gained 92 yards on 18 attempts for his best game since last season, as he’s been limited to special teams with Murray resigned as the go-to tailback.

The game begins at 1 p.m. EDT and will be shown by FOX, or watch a live stream online by purchasing NFL Sunday Ticket Max.
