The 2015 NHL All-Star weekend begins with the skill competitions Saturday night, and culminates in Sunday night’s clash between the squads of Columbus Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno and Chicago Blackhawks forward and captain Jonathan Toews at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio

For the third straight year both sides drafted their rosters Friday, and each mostly chose to stick with their top teammates. Foligno picked Blue Jackets forward Ryan Johansen with the No. 1 pick, a wise choice given Johensen’s 17 goals and 43 total points so far this season.

Blackhawk forward Patrick Kane and Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty are alternate captains for Team Foligno, and they too snagged teammates in Chicago’s Duncan Keith and Kings center Anze Kopitar.

Team Toews followed suit by picking up Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook and goalkeeper Corey Crawford.

But Toews also managed to trade for Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin, and it only cost him the very talented but recently embattled Toronto Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel.

Toews especially loaded up on scoring, uniting the league’s top goal scorers in Seguin and New York Rangers forward Rick Nash, who have each notched 28 goals this season.

First up is the skills competition with every player on Team Foglino and Team Toews required to compete in at least one of the six events. The events include: Fastest Skater, Breakaway Challenge, Accuracy Shooting, Skill Challenge Relay, Hardest Shot, and Shootout.

The skills competitions start at 7 P.M. ET and run until 9:30 P.M., while the puck will drop for the main event at 5 P.M. ET to 8 P.M.

NBC will broadcast both events, and a live online stream is available at NBC Live Extra here.
