Nick Cannon talked for the first time about covering the giant “Mariah” tattoo during an interview with “Entertainment Tonight.” The actor explained the cover-up is still a work in progress after he and Mariah Carey split.

"When it's done, I'll show up to your house naked and I'm going to let you see all the work," the 34-year-old joked about his new tattoo. "I'm not even half way done with it. That's what kind of made me mad, because everybody was like, 'He's showing off his tattoo!' ... Trust me, when it's done, y'all ain't going to be able to pay me to keep my shirt on. Right now, it's not finished."

To cover up his estranged wife’s name, Cannon got a huge tattoo of a crucifix. Pictures of the body art first appeared in the beginning of Oct.

The duo got matching tattoos in honor of each other after they were married. Carey told People magazine at the time she had one that said “Mrs. Cannon” on her lower back.

Cannon and Carey were married in 2008 after one month of dating. The two have children together, twins Moroccan and Monroe, 3. When he announced their breakup in Aug., he said “them babies” were what mattered most.

"It definitely gets hard at times," Cannon told ET. "You want to say certain things or lash out. Sometimes public opinion wants to paint you a certain way. At the end of the day that's not what it's about. Ultimately, I want to do what's best for my family and for my children."

Rumors swirled that Cannon cheated on Carey, though an official reason for why there is “trouble in paradise,” (as Cannon put it in August) has not been revealed.
