“Like a Boss” star Nick Cannon sent positive vibes to R&B singer Kehlani after he got wind of her suicide attempt Monday. Like many others, her mentor took to Twitter to publicly support the former “America’s Got Talent” Season 6 contestant.

Not only did Cannon give her a shoutout, he shared that he visited Kehlani in the hospital. “Had to go grab my Youngen!" Mariah Carey’s ex-husband wrote on Instagram, alongside a snap of himself hugging the singer in her hospital room. "#Family #LoveHug #NeverLettingGo #NeverLeavingHerSide #IGotYouForLife #UsAgainstTheWorld." The photo was liked nearly 22,000 times by his 1.3 million followers.

During a May 2015 interview with Billboard, Kehlani said Cannon was like a “father figure” to her. "Before Nick Cannon, I was homeless," she said. "I was just in Oakland, I had one song out, and I had never really written too much before. He came from a standpoint of someone I had met a long time ago on ‘America’s Got Talent.’ ”

Cannon then suggested she join the group PopLyfe, which was ultimately on "America's Got Talent," the show he hosted. “He saw my potential back then and he waited around to see what I grew into, and he saw a young girl who needed some help in the area where no one should really be struggling,” she said. Judge Piers Morgan suggested she leave the group. At the end of the season, she went out on her own.

But before her career blossomed, Cannon gave her a place to sleep. “Simple things like having a place to lay my head and having a safe place to write music. He really gave me that,” Kehlani said about the comedian. “He gave me a place to rest my head. As a young woman not having a father figure or any type of supportive male role in your life, that’s what he gave to me. He was kind of like a father figure."

Kehlani, 20, tried to take her life Monday after rumors swirled she cheated on Cleveland Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving with her ex-boyfriend, PartyNextDoor. She has since shared she is home from the hospital and resting with loved ones. “Thank you for the love,” she captioned a photo of a flower Tuesday evening. “Everyone's fighting things people know nothing about. Healthy, home, and with people who love me. Thank you for all [the] support. All God. Will be taking space.”
