Though the reality competition show has not yet aired, Nicki Minaj is "scared" about her portrayal as a judge on Fox' "American Idol."

According to the rap diva superstar, 29-year-old Minaj is worried how her fans will judge her, especially with all of the drama with fellow co-host Mariah Carey.

"I'm scared. Maybe I shouldn't have been so like... It's hard for me to not say how I really feel," Minaj said Monday on Ryan Seacrest's radio show. "Everyone else is so nice. I was just thinking back about some things and I was like, 'I wonder if that was not so nice.' I don't think I'm going to be able to watch it. I'm going to be so nervous."

But Minaj said her tough love attitude towards contestants is only to help the 11 singers battling for the crown.

"As an artist I've always grown more from the tougher criticism," she says, "and so I would like to be that person and to try to help people get that thick skin and to really give it their all, because it is a competition."

While the singer said she won't be watching the first episode herself, she knows that the public is going to love "American Idol."

"But I know people are going to love it. I think it's a great dynamic," she said.

The dynamic, according to Minaj, is a result of the judges' relationships with one another, despite her on-set fight with Carey.

"The chemistry of the judges, I feel it while I'm there. I think it's really different from anything we've seen before on Idol and people are going to like it."

Minaj even suggested that she and Carey have made up when asked if she and her fierce rival will ever perform on the show together.

"If she'll have me, I'll be there waiting."

"American Idol" will return for its 12th season Jan. 16th at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
