Rapper Nicki Minaj brought her mom onstage when she accepted the award for best female hip-hop artist at the 2015 BET Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. The 32-year-old artist looked just like her mom, Carol. The ladies were dressed in similar black outfits, according to E! News.

The mother-daughter duo slayed the red carpet in their form-fitting black ensembles that had thigh-high slits. Nicki won the award for the sixth year in a row. She gave a shout-out to her mom. “This is my mommy and it’s the first time the world is getting to see her. And Mommy, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you’ve done for me,” the “Anaconda” singer said. She added that she loved her mom.

During the evening, Carol rubbed shoulders with some other celebrities in the audience. Nicki Minaj posted a cute picture of her mom posing with Rihanna on Instagram. “Mommy and Rhi,” she captioned the picture. Carol opened up about raising Nicki in a post for Essence on Mother’s Day. She said she hoped Nicki would have a great singing career and was proud of her daughter’s success.

She said she always asked her children to persevere. The mom believed that if they kept pressing toward what they wanted, it was bound to happen. She added that humility was also necessary for going forward in life. Carol admitted that she wanted her daughter to be a gospel singer, but at the same time wanted Nicki to become whatever she wanted.

Earlier, Minaj and boyfriend Meek Mill made their red carpet debut together as a couple. Nicki looked stunning in a floor-length black lace gown that featured a long zipper. The long-sleeve number also featured a zipper on the sleeves. The songstress wore natural makeup with nude lips. She emphasized her eyes with bold, black eyeliner. Her shiny long black tresses were kept middle-parted while she flashed her white manicure. She accessorized her look with a few rings and small hoop earrings. Minaj coordinated her outfit with black T-strap high heels with metallic embellishments. Nicki and Mill performed their new track, “All Eyes On You,” on which they collaborated with Chris Brown.
