Actress Nicole Kidman recently confessed that she cried when she heard her husband Keith Urban's voice again.

The 44-year-old country music singer underwent surgery in November after a polyp was discovered in his vocal cords and he was placed on a voice rest for several weeks after surgery. As a part of the recovery he was also told to stay silent.

Kidman, who opened up about her relationship with Urban, said that the experience further strengthened their relationship.

Three weeks of no sound--no laughing, no coughing, no sneezing, nothing. He could write things down, and he would scribble away, Kidman told W Magazine.

However, the Hemingway and Gellhorn actress also admitted that the two did not stop arguing. You can still fight when someone can't talk. When he disagreed with me, he would write, this is unacceptable, she said.

“All of those things make you closer. It was sort of profound: to go without his voice, and then to finally hear his voice. What if he sounded different? I was there for his first words, and then we cried. How many people experience their husband's first words? If that doesn't bring you closer, you're not breathing, she added.

Despite their arguments, Kidman said that Urban has always made it his mission in life to protect her from the world.

She explained: He says I'm raw. He thinks the world is not a great place for me because he fears that I'll be hurt. He says, 'That's my job: I'll protect you'.
