“The Office” fans gained a renewed sense of hope that the show would return to NBC for about five minutes on Wednesday thanks to a tweet from Steve Carell. Amid excitement about the network’s plans to bring “Will & Grace” back for 10 episodes, the actor tweeted that “The Office” was also coming back.

Moments after sharing the initial tweet Carell issued a correction, claiming there was a typo in his previous message. Many were heartbroken by the joke, though all hope is not lost. During an interview with International Business Times about his new show “Caraoke Showdown,” Craig Robinson revealed that he and his “The Office” co-stars are in touch from time to time, adding that he would absolutely revisit the show if a reboot were ever to be discussed.

While NBC is not currently working on bringing back “The Office,” which came to an end in 2013, fans will likely continue to cross their fingers. Meanwhile, Dunder Mifflin’s fictional staff has been keeping busy with a variety of other projects in recent years. Here’s what the cast of “The Office” is up to in 2017.

Steve Carell, Michael Scott

After appearing on “The Office” as Michael Scott, Dunder Mifflin’s very own horrible boss, Carell went on to appear in various silver screen productions. The actor voiced Gru for a second time in “Despicable Me 2” and 2014’s “Minions,” starred in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” “The Big Short,” and “Café Society.” In 2016, Carell and his wife Nancy teamed up on a new show for TBS called “Angie Tribeca.” The show premiered Seasons 1 and 2 in 2016.

Craig Robinson, Darryl Philbin

Robinson is another “The Office” alumni who has graced both the big and small screen several times since the show ended. In June 2013, he appeared alongside Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, James Franco and more in “This is The End.” He also went on to star in “Hot Tub Time Machine 2,” “Mr. Robinson,” and lent his voice to “Sausage Party.” Robinson landed recurring roles on hit TV shows like “Mr. Robot” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and is currently hosting Spike’s “Caraoke Showdown.”

During an interview with IBT Robinson revealed that he is currently working on a number of other projects, including a film called “Table 19,” in which he’s star alongside Anna Kendrick and Lisa Kudrow. Robinson is also working on a movie called “An Evening with Beverly Loughlin” with Jemaine Clement and Aubrey Plaza. He assured fans that project, which recently began filming, was going to be “fun and silly.”

Robinson is also working alongside Adam Scott, who auditioned for “The Office” but did not appear in the show, called “Ghosted.”

“That’s dealing with multiple universes and stuff like that, so that’s fun,” Robinson said.

John Krasinski, Jim Halpert

When “The Office” came to an end in 2013, Krasinski hit the ground running. That year he voiced the character Frank McCay in “Monsters University.” In the years that followed he landed roles in “Aloha,” “13 Hours,” and “The Hollars.” Krasinski is slated to appear in Kate Bigelow’s “Untitled Detroit Project” alongside “Gotham” star Chris Chalk and many others and reunite with Robinson to voice an animated character in a film “Animal Crackers.”

In his personal life, Krasinski and wife Emily Blunt welcomed a second child last June.

Novak currently stars alongside Kaling on “The Mindy Project” and has worked on several projects of his own. He has had roles in “The Internship,” “Community,” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” and voiced a character in “The Smurfs 2.” Novak also graced the silver screen in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” “Saving Mr. Banks” and “The Founder.”

Novak wrote a children's book in 2014 called “The Book With No Pictures.” He wrote another much longer collection of stories called “One More Thing” shortly after.
