It looks like the cast of Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” is giving fans an early Christmas gift. No, it isn’t a release date for Season 3 of the popular dramedy set in a women’s prison. Instead, Piper and the ladies of Litchfield decided to show off their pipes in a holiday cover of the classic carol “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”

The inmates of the show gathered in character, presumably on the set of Season 3, to sing their rendition of the song “12 Days of Litchfield, beginning with Piper (Taylor Schilling) singing the opener, “On my first day at Litchfield, my bunkmate gave to me ... ”

From there, she was joined by co-stars Adrienne C. Moore, Laura Prepon, Laverne Cox, Lea DeLaria, Taryn Manning, Uzo Aduba, Natasha Lyonne, Yael Stone, Danielle Brooks, Selenis Leyva and Kate Mulgrew as they each sang an alternate line that had something to do with “Orange Is the New Black.”

For examples: “Eight snitches snitching ... ,” “Four stocking (stalking?) girls ... ,” “And a chicken in the yard ... ”

Not-so-curiously absent from the cheery Christmas carol was Litchfield prison’s biggest villain, Lorraine Toussaint’s Vee. The character who came in and caused a firestorm of controversy in the prison by [WARNING: SPOILER AHEAD] bringing in drugs and basically starting a gang war with Red (Mulgrew) wasn’t included in the “12 Days of Litchfield” because she wasn’t going to be around in Season 3. After TMZ reported the actress was seen on the set in October, it caused many to believe that maybe her character wasn’t as dead as she appeared to be at the end of Season 2 (which was really, really dead, by the way). Luckily for Red fans, Netflix confirmed the actress would not return in the new season. Still, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Vee is gone for good, just for the immediate future.

According to BuzzFeed, Season 3 of “Orange Is the New Black” began filming in July. Unfortunately, Netflix has yet to set an official release date for it.
