“The Originals” is finally bringing over “Vampire Diaries” fan favorite Caroline Forbes-Salvatore, but the CW drama might not involve her in the way audiences expect.

At the end of last season of “The Originals,” Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) dropped off Hope (Summer Fontana) at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted. Hope (who will now be played by Danielle Rose Russell) has spent the better part of a decade attending the school, which is run by Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) and Caroline (Candice King). However, it’s not just her role as Hope’s educator that brings Caroline back into Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) life.

“Caroline and Klaus cross paths in Europe after Rebekah — unable to visit Klaus herself due to their magical predicament — asks for Caroline’s help with an intervention of sorts,” Entertainment Weekly reports.

The Hollow prevents the Mikaelsons from seeing each other. Rebekah (Claire Holt), Klaus, Elijah (Daniel Gilles) and Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) did a spell to take the Hollow out of Hope and divided it among themselves. In order to stop the magical force from getting stronger, they have to avoid each other. It seems Caroline is aware of this magical arrangement.

The outlet added that the “Vampire Diaries” alum is only in two of the first 10 episodes of “The Originals” Season 5, which will be the final season, so it doesn’t look like she’s overtaking any storylines.

King knows her brief apearances are highly anticipated. She shared a photo of herself and Morgan behind-the-scenes a few weeks ago with the hashtag “#onefortheKlarolineShippers.”

Caroline and Klaus have a long and complicated history, but it looks like they’ve grown closer over the past several years. Caroline wasn’t so happy to talk to Klaus when she heard from him in a crossover episode of “TVD” Season 6, but she happily accepted a generous donation to her school in last spring’s “Vampire Diaries” series finale. The fact that she’s willing to head to Europe to help him with family drama might indicate that they have more of a relationship these days.

Caroline will also appear in the Season 5 premiere of “The Originals.” It’s in that episode that she’ll help Klaus put an end to his pity party.

“There’s something about Caroline Forbes-Salvatore,” Plec told Entertainment Weekly at San Diego Comic Con. “She’s just got so much life in her because she was sort of captured in that moment in time as that teenage girl, so she just brings up the spirits of people around her, like the actress does as well. So there’s just something great about watching Caroline call Klaus [out]. Being like, ‘Oh boo hoo, you’re tortured. Like, get over yourself.’”

Unfortunately, it’s going to be a while before Caroline can give Klaus a good kick where he needs it. “The Originals” Season 5 will not air on The CW until 2018.
