Did you watch “The Originals” backdoor pilot during season 4 of “The Vampire Diaries”? If not, don’t fret. The new CW show is airing “Always And Forever,” which will give details about the characters and story for those who don’t watch “The Vampire Diaries.” As for those that did catch the episode in May … you should watch it again! The episode is different and more explosive from what you’ve already watched.

Premiering on the CW on Thursday at 9 p.m. EDT, “The Originals” will introduce the Mikaelson family -- Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) – the ORIGINAL vampires. Recently settling down in Mystic Falls, Klaus returns to the French Quarter of New Orleans, the supernatural melting pot and the city that “his family helped build 300 years ago.”

Leaving Rebekah behind, Elijah decides to follow his brother to New Orleans, and it’s there that he discovers that Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), a werewolf and onetime hookup of Klaus, “has fallen into the hands of a powerful witch named Sophie Deveraux (Daniella Pineda). When Sophie reveals some news to Elijah, he believes his family -- which has been torn apart throughout the centuries -- has been given a second chance.

But Klaus has no interest in Sophie’s news, instead focusing in on his former protégé, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), who seems to have some mysterious control over the supernatural beings in New Orleans. Klaus decides that he wants to stay in New Orleans to “reclaim what was once his – the power, the city and his family.”

As previously mentioned, “Always And Forever” will be different from the initial “Originals” pilot that aired. While the backdoor pilot was from Klaus’ perspective, the new premiere will be from Elijah – who besides being a dangerous and murderous vampire, is also sophisticated and polite.

The new episode will drop some scenes previously aired and will instead include a flashback to Klaus’ first kill as a vampire … which viewers will learn is when he “awakened his werewolf side.” Unfortunately for Klaus, that will also be when he learns that he really isn’t his father’s son. (Look out for a guest appearance from Sebastian Roche, who will be playing Mikaelson patriarch Mikael.)

Furthermore, viewers will learn more about Marcel’s “secret weapon” – something that was only touched on in the backdoor pilot.

The CW is pulling a fast one and airing “The Originals” premiere on Thursday 3 at 9 p.m. The goal is to pull “Vampire Diaries” viewers over to watch the spinoff, but don’t get used to the series on Thursdays. On Tuesday, Oct. 8, it will move to its permanent time slot at 8 p.m.
