Close behind Hugo is the French darling The Artist with 10 nominations, including Best Actor (Jean Dujardin), Best Supporting Actress (Berenice Bejo) and Best Picture.
Meanwhile, Glenn Close is going for magic number six. The Albert Nobbs actress is nominated for the sixth time of her career, up against Rooney Mara, Meryl Streep, Viola Davis and Michelle Williams.
