The “Outlander” Season 1 finale will feature a daring rescue attempt by Claire to free Jamie. The promo videos revealed Sunday via SpoilerTV show how cows will be used in the escape plan and how the events in the episode will have a lasting impact on Jamie and his wife. [Spoiler Alert!]

Murtagh Fraser came up with an idea about how to rescue Jamie from Wentworth Prison in the previous episode. One of the three promo videos of the season finale shows how the cows will be used to break the prison door and get Jamie out using a horse cart.

Jamie’s escape may come after prolonged torture at the hands of Black Jack. The promo video shows Claire concerned about the well-being of her husband and inquiring about what happened between Jamie and Jack in the prison cell. Events in the episode may have left Jamie so mentally scarred, he is unable to even look at his wife.

Apart from using cows, Murtagh also suggests the only way to save Jamie is for someone to “step into the darkness” along with Black Jack. The promo videos of the episode show the infamous British captain going shirtless and finding new ways to torture Jamie.

The events of the “Outlander” season finale will continue to leave a mark on the relationship between Claire and Jamie. One of the scenes shows how Jack will burn his initials onto Jamie’s skin, which is discovered by Claire when the couple appear to be safe and happy elsewhere in the future. The “Outlander” Season 1 finale will air this Saturday, May 31, at 9 p.m. on Starz.
