The producers of the “Outlander” TV series have announced that Lionel Lingelser will be joining the cast as King Louis XV. He is one of the many French actors who have been cast for the show as the story now shifts focus from Scotland to France.

The announcement was made in a tweet on the official Twitter account of the TV series. Commenting on the news, several fans expressed their admiration and excitement about Lingelser being chosen for the role. The fans pointed out that the actor looks like royalty and one of the fans asked the producers whether he has any blue blood in him.

Lingelser has been a part of French TV shows like “Josephine, ange gardien” and “Camping paradis.” He was also in the 2008 movie “Daddy Cool” and the TV movie “Aristides de Sousa Mendes: A Rebel.” The actor will next be seen playing the role of Marc in the 2015 movie “Big House.”

According to a report by EntertainmentWeekly, King Louis XV of France “has a taste for the ladies and is used to getting whatever he wants.” The two main characters in “Outlander” Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan), will apparently get to meet him in Season 2.

The main plot next season will involve Jamie and Claire trying to prevent the Battle of Culloden that ends the Jacobite Rebellion in 1745. The two characters were last seen traveling on a ship to France in the finale episode of the first season.

A previous report by Hypable listed some of the actors who will be joining the cast for the next season. “Harry Potter” actress Frances de la Tour will be playing the role of Mother Hildegarde, Dominique Pinon as Master Raymond, Stanley Weber as Le Comte St. Germain, Audrey Brisson as Sister Angelique, Claire Sermonne as Louise de Rohan, Romann Berrux as Fergus and Margaux Chatelier as Anneliese de Marillac.

Filming of “Outlander” Season 2 is in progress, and the premiere episode is expected to air sometime in 2016. Jamie and Claire will be getting a whole new wardrobe as they tackle the politics of the French court next year.
