Pamela Adlon recently released a statement after her good friend and partner, Louis C.K., admitted to sexually assaulting multiple women in the past.

New York Times first brought C.K.’s misconduct to light in an article published on Thursday. In the piece, it was revealed that at least five women were exploited by the comedian in various ways. Initially, C.K.’s publicist, Lewis Kay, said that his client won’t respond to any requests for comment.

But on Friday, the “Better Things” creator confirmed the allegations as true. “These stories are true. At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn’t a question. It’s a predicament for them. The power I had with these women is that they admired me, and I wielded that power irresponsibly,” he said.

Adlon released a statement to Entertainment Tonight expressing her shock and devastation over the incident. “Hi. I’m here. I have to say something. It’s so important. My family and I are devastated and in shock after the admission of abhorrent behavior of my friend and partner, Louis C.K. I feel deep sorrow and empathy for the women who have come forward. I am asking for privacy at this time for myself and my family. I am processing and grieving and hope to say more as soon as I am able,” she said.

Meanwhile, film distributor The Orchard addressed C.K.’s sexual assault scandal by announcing the cancellation of “I Love You, Daddy’s” premiere. “There is never a place for the behavior detailed in these allegations. As a result, we are giving careful consideration to the timing and release of the film and continuing to review the situation,” the statement read.

“I Love You, Daddy” star Chloe Grace Moretz also declined to join the promotion of the film two weeks before C.K.’s sexual misconduct was reported.
