The countdown is on, “Person of Interest” fans! CBS finally announced the Season 5 premiere of the crime series last month, and now devoted followers can get the scoop on episode 1 ahead of the May 3 air date.
According to the official synopsis, the Season 5 premiere is titled “B.S.O.D.” But what exactly does that stand for? It means “Blue Screen of Death” and is used to describe a computer system failure — like when the screen turns blue with white text. Obviously, this is never a good thing.
When Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Finch (Michael Emerson) return to the small screen they’ll be tasked with rescuing the Machine’s source code “before it deteriorates beyond repair.” For fans that don’t remember, the Season 4 finale in May 2015 concluded with Finch and Root (Amy Acker) attempting to save the Machine from Samaritan. However, the fate of the Machine was left hanging in the balance after a power surge.
The Machine won’t be the only thing the team has to worry about in episode 1. Root will find herself fighting for her life thanks to some dangerous Samaritan agents. Meanwhile, Fusco (Kevin Chapman) has to deal with “hard questions” regarding the deaths of Dominic (Winston Duke) and Elias (Enrico Colantoni). Samaritan snipers killed Dominic and Elias in the Season 4 finale after they learned the truth about “the Correction.”
Season 5 of “Person of Interest” kicks off on CBS May 3 and fans won’t want to miss a minute of it. The upcoming 13 episodes will be the final ones for the series as it was officially canceled in March. Check out photos from episode 1 below:
