A father captured a stunning photo of his daughter grasping a doctor’s finger as she was being born, and it has now become one of the first viral hits of 2013.

As Nevaeh Atkins was being born via C-section on Oct. 9, she decided to “shake hands” with her doctor; father Randy was able to snap a photo of the unforgettable moment.

“I was just in shock, very excited about what I had just captured. I was an amazing moment to me; to capture it and be able to see this forever,” Randy told 3TV News.

The girl's mother, Alicia, who is a professional photographer, and owner of A Classic Pin-Up photography studio, then shared the photo on her company’s Facebook page on Dec. 26.

“This was 10 weeks ago when I was having my c-section and Dr. Sawyer broke my water and my daughter reached up out of my stomach and grabbed the Dr.'s finger and my hubby caught this special moment,” Alicia captioned the photo.

The photo has become an internet sensation with over four thousand likes and two thousand shares, and has even received recognition from several news outlets.

The family was recently interviewed by 3TV News, with baby Nevaeh, now three months old, staring intently at the news caster who suggested that she must be as strong-willed now as she was in the photo.

Detailing how the photo happened, Randy explained that the photo was one of five that he was able to snap while Naveah held on to the doctor’s finger.

“The doctor called me over and said, ‘Hey, she's grabbing my finger,’” he said.

“So I ran over there and just grabbed the shot and I was just in awe looking at it. It was such an amazing picture.”

Alicia told KTVK that she’s surprised, but happy that the photo was so well received.

“We didn't think we were going to get such positive feedback. We thought we would get more negative “that's disgusting,’” Alicia told KTVK.

“[Instead] everybody just thought it was the best thing in the world.”

The couple also has two older sons, who are enjoying the family’s claim to fame, KTVK reported.
