Sony has been instrumental in teasing an unnamed Pink Xperia handset for sometime now. Rumor had it that this Pink device could be either the Xperia C6 or a new variant of the Z5. As it turns out, the Japanese tech giant has finally revealed the device-in-focus as the “Pink Sony Xperia Z5.”
According to Sony’s official Website, the Pink variant utilizes the same “frosted glass finish,” similar to other Z5 models. The new Xperia Z5 comes with a light dusky Pink hue, which acts as a natural complement to the currently available Green, White and Black models.
Sony’s Lead designer on the project Rikke Gertsen Constein has explained the efforts the company had put in to select the right Pink shade for the Xperia Z5, among innumerable options. In her own words: “We wanted the color to appear strong and modern, and here the material is playing an important role. I feel what we have achieved with the light dusky pink is fresh, contemporary and modern in the Z5 materials.”
Except for the change in color, the configurations remain the same in the new Z5. As far as the release date goes, the Pink variant will apparently hit the store shelves in February. So far, the tech giant has not revealed the price and launch markets. Even if Sony doesn’t launch this variant in the U.S., e-retailers like Amazon and eBay can be banked on to bring the international versions to the U.S. soil.
On the other hand, Sony is gearing up to unveil a slew of handsets in the Z6 series. This includes the 5.2-inch flagship Z6, 5.0-inch Xperia Z6 Lite, 4.6-inch Xperia Z6 Compact, 5.8-inch Xperia Z6 Plus and a mammoth 6.4-inch Xperia Z6 Ultra.
