A US Airways plane crashed into the Hudson river on Thursday, leaving it partially submerged although passengers were seen escaping the air craft into nearby boats.

Video footage from WNBC-TV showed the scene.

US Airways Flight 1549 left LaGuardia Airport enroute to Charlotte N.C. with the airplane landing near 48th street in midtown Manhattan, according to the Associated Press.

It was not immediately clear if there were injuries.
