This morning, the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown gave his assurances that stable economic policies would keep inflation down in the medium to long term.

Brown expressed his view that inflation would remain low over the next 10 to 20 years so long as the right economic policies were in place.

If we get our economy right by having the stable polices that we have pursued over the past 10 years, we can keep inflation low, he said.

His comments were made in an interview in this morning's "Today Programme' on BBC Radio 4. Gordon Brown is expected to give a speech later today at the first day of the Labour Party Conference in Bournemouth.
