Manchester United great Gary Neville heaped praise on Paul Pogba, terming the midfielder a "world-class" player after Red Devils’ crucial win over Wolves in the Premier League on Tuesday.

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola dragged the player in the middle of a controversy when he said the Frenchman’s career at Old Trafford was over. Neville believes following the incident, Pogba has been playing at his best and can lead Manchester United to the Premier League title.

"When they played Leipzig his agent came out and said he wanted to leave, but since then I have seen the best of Paul Pogba. I have got to say I prefer watching Manchester United when he is playing because he gives them something that might take them on the way to the title. He is a world-class player, " Neville was quoted by Goal, as saying in an interview.

Neville, who won the treble with Manchester United in 1998-99, also acknowledged the brilliance of Bruno Fernandes, who has directly been involved in more goals than any other player in the top-flight since making his Red Devils debut in February.

"It's the impact he's had on the club. Forget the goals and assists, it's the winning mentality, every time he goes on the field he wants to win, he drives the team forward. He is absolutely outstanding. He pops up everywhere on the field," said Neville about Fernandes, who has made 23 competitive appearances for the club this season.

Fernandes, who clinched his seventh assist of the 2020-21 Premier League season against Wolves, has overall scored 14 times and provided nine assists across all competitions.

Marcus Rashford, who netted the goal in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Wolves, has also scored 14 goals in the ongoing campaign for the Old Trafford side. Only Fernandes and Rashford have scored in double digits for the club. The next best on the list is Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial, who have scored four goals each.

Pogba and Fernandes are expected to start when Manchester United host Aston Villa in a crucial league fixture on New Year’s Day. A win Friday will take Manchester United level on points with leaders Liverpool.
