The release of “Transformers: Devastation” is one month away, and publisher Activision has decided to unveil the game’s preorder bonuses. Those, who preorder the game, will gain access to three new character skins, two of which are based on characters from the show. Players, who preorder the game, will also gain access to three new weapons.
According to IGN, the three characters skins are Nemesis Prime, Red Alert and Goldfire. Both Nemesis Prime and Red Alert have appeared in multiple cartoons based on “Transformers,” while Goldfire is a special variation of Bumblebee and has only appeared as an action figure. While Red Alert has proven to be an ally to the Autobots, Nemesis Prime is not, as he’s basically a darker version of Optimus Prime.
It’s not known yet if the character skins are more powerful than the standard looks of the playable characters or if the change is purely cosmetic. Players will be able to upgrade the playable characters in the game, so it will be interesting to see if these skins raise any attributes.
Developer Platinum Games has made sure that the three new weapons available for pre-order will feel unique. According to a report from the PlayStation Blog, all of the characters and weapons have been worked on extensively, so each one will supposedly play differently.
The three weapons are the following: The Dark Star Saber, The Photon Disruptor and The Twin Golden Hunter. Each weapon seems to be designed for the pre-order character skins, though it seems like any character can equip these weapons.
So far, no other downloadable content (DLC) packs have been announced for the game, though it’s possible that they’ll be brought up after the game’s release. Since the “Transformers” universe is rich with different characters, it will be interesting to see if more character skins are announced in the future.
“Transformers: Devastation” will be available on Oct. 6 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and the Xbox 360. This is the second “Transformers” game to hit current-gen consoles after “Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark.”
