“A” is back b------! Season 5 of “Pretty Little Liars” is returning to ABC Family on Tuesday, Jan. 6, for its winter premiere. Fans were briefly reunited with the girls thanks to the series' first Christmas special, but the drama that ensued is going to pale in comparison to episode 14, “Through a Glass, Darkly.”

The winter premiere will feature a time jump ahead three months from where the show left off. The episode will find the Liars – Aria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) – “determined” to find proof that Alison (Sasha Pieterse) was responsible for Mona’s (Janel Parrish) murder. “Pretty Little Liars” viewers will remember that the summer finale concluded with “A” killing Mona and throwing her body in the trunk of a car in order to stop her from releasing information that linked Alison to Bethany Young, the mysterious girl from Radley Sanitarium who ended up in Alison’s grave. Although they don’t know for a fact that Alison was involved in Mona’s death, the Liars are in mourning and “more adamant than ever” that Alison played a part in her killing.

In order to get justice for their fallen friend, the girls will enlist the help of their significant others to “search for evidence that could prove Alison killed Mona.” But unfortunately they’ll be encountering a familiar roadblock – Alison has an alibi.

Is Alison truly innocent? Or does she have accomplices helping her cover up another bloody trail? It’s hard to say, but that’s not going to stop Aria, Hanna, Emily and Spencer. The synopsis teases that they “may have to resort to more shady tactics to put Ali away.”

Alison drama is not the only thing to look forward to in the winter premiere, “Through a Glass, Darkly.” Paily shippers should be worried about the future of Emily and Paige (Lindsey Shaw). Although the pair was definitely together during the Christmas special, Paige dropped a bombshell that her parents want her to move out of Rosewood before school ends. Can their relationship survive?

Meanwhile, Aria will begin to panic about her future – and based on a sneak peek video, will have to turn to Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) for help!

Catch the winter premiere of “Pretty Little Liars” Season 5 when it airs on ABC Family on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 8 p.m. EST.
