Prince William sees to it that his royal babies Prince George and Princess Charlotte know about their late grandma, Princess Diana.

Prince William admitted that his wife, Kate Middleton, had not known his mom, so the Duchess of Cambridge could not talk about Princess Diana to their children. Due to this, he does the job himself. “I do regularly, [when] putting George or Charlotte to bed, talk about her and just try to remind them that there are two grandmothers — there were two grandmothers — in their lives. It’s important that they know who she was and that she existed,” the Duke of Cambridge said, according to Us Weekly.

Prince William also talked about how his late mother would have been like as grandma to his kids. “She’d be a nightmare grandmother, absolute nightmare,” the dad-of-two joked. “She’d love the children to bits, but she’d be an absolute nightmare. She’d come and go and she’d come in probably at bath time, cause an amazing … scene, bubbles everywhere, bathwater all over the place, and then leave.”

Although Prince William speculated that Princess Diana would have been a “nightmare” granny to her grandchildren, he admitted that her parenting styles influenced how he brought up Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Middleton’s husband wanted to spend as much time with his children while they grow up because their ages at the moment are crucial to their development. His mom was there during those stages in his life, so he wanted to be there for his kids too.

Prince William and Middleton have a number of helpers at home, which is one of their privileges as members of the royal family. However, the couple is keen on being hands-on parents to their children. Both are advocates of mental health, and William said in an interview with CALMzine that he wanted his kids to be open about their feelings. “Catherine and I are clear that we want both George and Charlotte to grow up feeling able to talk about their emotions and feelings,” he explained.

Meanwhile, in one of her speeches, Middleton admitted that motherhood could be challenging but rewarding at the same time. “Personally, becoming a mother has been such a rewarding and wonderful experience. However, at times it has also been a huge challenge. Even for me, who has support at home that most mothers do not,” the Duchess of Cambridge said.
