Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said he did not know whether President Barack Obama was a Christian in an interview with the Washington Post on Sunday. His statement followed his refusal to distance himself from comments made by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani that Obama does not love America. Walker said, "I’ve never asked him, so I don’t know," regarding Giuliani's comments. He replied in a similar fashion when asked about Obama's faith.

So, is Obama a Christian? "The president is obviously a Christian. He prays every day." White House spokesman Bill Burton made that succinct comment after a 2010 poll conducted by the Pew Research Center and the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life found 18 percent of individuals surveyed said Obama was Muslim.

Obama has discussed his faith before. A profile by the Associated Press in 2013 looked at how Obama's faith had changed since his first term as president. A part of Obama's daily routine is a devotional written by Joshua DuBois, an "informal spiritual adviser," that includes passages from the Bible and other motivational sayings from past presidents, leaders and authors.

Obama 'A Christian By Choice' -- 2010

"I came to my Christian faith later in life and it was because the precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in terms of the kind of life that I would want to lead -- being my brothers’ and sisters’ keeper, treating others as they would treat me," Obama said in a backyard town hall in New Mexico in 2010.

"We are both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others, but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf, but it’s also the Golden Rule, you know, treat others the way you would want to be treated," Obama said during the interview, explaining how he talked to his wife, Michelle, regarding his decision on gay marriage.

Obama's Interview With Cathedral Age Magazine

"First and foremost, my Christian faith gives me a perspective and security that I don’t think I would have otherwise: That I am loved. That, at the end of the day, God is in control," Obama told Cathedral Age magazine in 2012.
