If you're a single heterosexual woman in Memphis looking for love, it may be best just to move. Memphis has the lowest ratio of employed single men to women, 59 men to 100 women with 63 percent of men being single, according to a report from the Pew Research Center. As for the city with the best chance of finding an employed person to love, San Jose is the place to be with 114 employed men to 100 women with 57 percent unmarried. (Dislcaimer: Employment may not be your favorite metric to gauge whether someone is a worthy candidate for a romantic relationship, and we would agree in part, given how many times we've been dumped by people who are gainfully employed.)

Young Americans aren't getting married, which is no surprise considering the 40-year decline in marriage rates, but Pew does note one record high: 20 percent of American adults who have never been married. Of the 20 percent of Americans who have never been married, a 53 percent majority do want to get involved in some marital bliss.

So what's causing this decline in marriage? Perhaps the easiest solution could be location, location, location -- or, more accurately, living in the wrong city. Pew created the "Mapping the Marriage Market for Young Adults" interactive graph, exploring the number of young adults per metro area. The data was broken down in four ways; number of men for every 100 women, number of women for every 100 men, number of employed men for 100 women and number of employed women for every 100 men. Adults were identified as between the ages of 25 and 34.

Looking at that 53 percent of never-married Americans who would like to get hitched, 78 percent of women in that group said it was very important that their potential husband was gainfully employed. Based on these parameters, the metro area of San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, California is the best place to find a suitor. Denver is in second place, with 101 employed men per 100 women with 56 percent unmarried.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Memphis has the lowest ratio of employed single young men to single young women, followed by Jacksonville, Florida, 70 employed men per 100 women with 62 percent unmarried. Based on the Pew data, single employed young men have it much easier than their counterparts and what could be considered the worst place to live for women could be a boon to men. Instead of moving to trendy cities, young employed men looking for love could try their luck in Charlotte, Philadelphia or Miami.
