Queen Letizia of Spain looked stunning in a monochrome ensemble at a New Year Military Parade in Madrid Wednesday. She paired a crisp white blazer with a full-length black dress. The 43-year-old Spanish royal is known to be a fashion risk taker.

Letizia’s dress featured a daring split and floral detailing on the lower half. The queen, who is known for her trendy and chic hairstyles, showed off a new look at the parade. Letizia looked effortlessly cool with her elegant up "do."

This time it was not her ensemble which was the talking point among her fans, but it was her chic hairstyle. Her long bob or lob was swept back and fastened into neat curls at the nape of her neck. The pulled back "do" let her natural beauty shine through.

Letizia paired her look with black embellished high heels and a matching clutch. The clutch is by Spanish brand Reliquiae and featured a cut-out section. The Archy Black bag also features a removable chain strap.

The mother-of-two’s flawless make-up consisted of smoky eyes and pink lipstick. She accessorized with a pair of simple pearl drop earrings. Her husband King Felipe VI was dressed in his military regalia.

As Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces he donned white-gloves, khaki uniform and pink and white sash. It was the first official engagement the royal couple were carrying out at the beginning of the year. The 47-year-old Spanish king usually gives a speech in the palace’s Throne Room.

It is the king’s first speech of the year, and takes place roughly two weeks after the monarch’s televised Christmas Eve speech. At the start of the ceremony, the national anthem is played, followed by the firing of 21 cannon shots. This year around 150 guests attended, including Prime Minister of Spain Mariano Rajoy, who also gave a speech and army officials.

This year in the Spanish royals’ Christmas card, their daughters Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia featured. It indicated the fact that Leonor will one day become queen.
