Police shot and killed an unarmed teenager in the Bronx yesterday, after narcotics officers chased the young man into his family's apartment.

18-year-old Ramarley Graham was shot in the chest by a police officer after a short chase Thursday.

Narcotics officers had seen Graham on the street adjusting his waist band and thought he had a gun. Graham--who has previous arrests for marijuana and burglary--ran when police approached him. Two officers chased him into his family's apartment in Williamsbridge, where Graham and one of the officers had a brief confrontation before the officer's gun went off and hit Graham on the left side of his chest.

Graham was immediately taken to Montefiore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not find a gun on Graham or in the apartment. New York News Briefs
