Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo will be sidelined for roughly two weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury in Thursday's 7-0 triumph over Malaga.

The 26-year-old scored a hat-trick but had to pull out immediately after scoring his third when he felt a tinge in his hamstring. Scans on Friday have confirmed that he will need a recovery period of 10-15 days.

A statement on the Real Madrod official website said, Cristiano Ronaldo has a Grade 1 muscle injury on the left biceps femoris muscle (hamstring). The player will miss 10-15 days. His recovery is being monitored.''

Ronaldo's 27 goals so far in this campaign has been vital in Madrid maintaing the distance between leaders Barcelona at seven points. However, this lay-off will see him miss games against Racing Santander, Hercules and maybe even the Champions League second leg against Lyon at the Bernabeu.
