Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly escaped from being stabbed by a man armed with a dagger at a Spanish airport.

As Mourinho signed autographs at La Coruna, Galicia, a member of the security staff received a 4cm (1.5in) stab which is believed to have been aimed at the Madrid manager.

Though the incident occurred last Friday it has been reported only now by the Cadena Ser news channel.

Whether Mourinho was aware of the attack then is unclear, but according to the Cadena Ser channel, the security staff realized that he was stabbed only after he had boarded the team bus.

The security cameras at the airport should have captured the incident, though and further reports are awaited.
