"Reign" episode 12, "Royal Blood" CW

The CW’s new series “Reign” is a fan favorite – and for good reason! Between the beautiful cast and juicy story lines, viewers can’t wait to see what happens next at the 16th century French court. Unfortunately “Reign” fans will have to wait, though, because the show is on hiatus until Feb. 27. The good news is that we’ve got some scoop on episode 12 to hold you over until then.

For those who missed episode 11, “Inquisition” finally revealed the truth about Clarissa. It turns out that the “castle ghost” is actually a teenage girl who was born with a big red birthmark on her face. When the girl was an infant, her mother gave her to Nostradamus’ father, who believed that he could remove the birthmark from her face. He failed, though, and all his attempts made the baby’s face horribly disfigured. The baby was supposed to be left for dead, but Nostradamus saved her and eventually took her to the castle with him.

Mary and Bash eventually put all the pieces together and discovered that the baby with the birthmark belonged to Queen Catherine. But it wasn’t Queen Catherine’s child with King Henry – instead it was revealed that she had an affair with King Henry’s good friend. The revelation was all the evidence the king needed to order Catherine’s execution and continue his steps toward legitimizing his bastard son Bash.

Episode 12, “Royal Blood,” will take a slight break from the Catherine beheading situation. But that doesn’t mean that Catherine will be drama-free. Instead she’s forced to ask Mary and Bash for help when Clarissa kidnaps the royal couple's two youngest children. Mary and Bash agree to work with the queen in order to find the kids, but with “tragic results.”

Meanwhile, Francis will finally return and strike up a surprising relationship – with one of Mary’s friends! When Lola “attempts to help her brother with a debt he owes,” Francis will come to her rescue. His move will cause the two to “grow closer.” But how will Mary take the news?

Episode 12 of “Reign” will air on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. What do you think will happen? Let us know your thoughts and theories in the comments section or send a tweet to @AmandaTVScoop.
