Mary (Adelaide Kane) will team up with Lord Condé (Sean Teale) in the Season 2 midseason finale of "Reign." CW

The midseason finale of “Reign” is upon us. Season 2 of the CW series has had its ups and downs, but none of that will compare to what’s coming in episode 10, “Mercy.”

When we left off, Francis (Toby Regbo) and Bash (Torrance Coombs) had finally managed to find and kill the last loose end tying Francis to the murder of King Henry. It was a relief for Francis, who would no longer be under Narcisse’s (Craig Parker) thumb. However, no one got a happy ending in episode 9. The castle was attacked while Francis and Bash were out. Angry Protestants wanted to kill Francis for his recent rulings against the religion. When they didn’t find Francis, they attacked Mary (Adelaide Kane).

The initial plan was to kill her, but the father of the murdered Protestant minister raped her instead. Mary managed to escape and Catherine (Megan Follows) found her. Catherine comforted Mary and urged her to stand tall for France. She needed to show her people that she was unhurt and that the Protestants had not won. Mary did so, but she was far from being OK.

Francis was destroyed when he came home and learned the news – especially since he had lied to Mary about his whereabouts.

Episode 10, the midseason finale of “Reign,” will find Francis “bloodthirsty.” Desperate for revenge, the king will make a “startling decision that will forever change his rule as the King of France.” Although the synopsis doesn’t reveal what that “change” will be, it might have to do with the battle between the Protestants and the atholics. But that’s not all – he’ll be tracking Narcisse, who has gone missing.

As her husband takes charge after the attack on the castle, Mary will “discover the truth behind Francis’ recent decisions.” Fans will remember that Francis kept the truth about his father’s death and Narcisse’s blackmailing in an attempt to keep Mary out of trouble. It sounds like Mary will finally get to the bottom of Francis’ scheming, which will lead Mary to “embark on a treacherous mission of her own with Lord Condé (Sean Teale)."

Meanwhile, Catherine will make a “final decision regarding the fate of Claude (Rose Williams)." Her choice will result in “an unexpected and erotic visit in her chambers” … but from whom?

Finally, Leith (Jonathan Keltz) and Greer (Celina Sinden) will be reunited. With the country enveloped in violence, Leith will approach his married ex and beg her to flee. Greer wasn’t happy to find out that her husband, Lord Castleroy (Michael Therriault), had accidentally ended up funding the attack on the castle. But is that enough to make her leave him? “Reign” viewers will find out soon enough when the Season 2 midseason finale airs on The CW on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 9 p.m. EST.
