Canada-based gold miner Dia Bras Exploration Inc. has regained access to its Yauricocha property in Peru after a road blockade set up by protesters was cleared, the company said Wednesday.
Transportation of concentrate from the property to Lima has resumed and is running as usual, Dia Bras Exploration said in a statement. Company representatives have held meetings with both local authorities and neighboring communities. As a result, the parties have reached agreements which are in line with the company's policies on social and environmental responsibility.
The company's mining operations at the Yauricocha property were not interrupted during the demonstrations.
