Fugitive filmmaker Roman Polanski lost a bid Friday asking the Los Angeles County court system to dismiss a 30-year-old child rape case.

The Oscar-winning-film-maker fled to France in 1978 before the case concluded.

Friday, Judge Peter Espinoza said in a written decision lawyers had given no legal grounds for disqualification and was therefore ordered stricken.

Polanski born in France was indicted on six charges, including rape, for having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
