Rupee extends rise after food price data
The rupee extended gains on Thursday after data showed the food price index eased further from the previous week's levels. India's food price index rose 11.05 percent and the fuel price index climbed 11.92 percent in the year to Feb. 5, government data on Thursday showed.
They had risen 13.07 percent and 11.61 percent respectively in the previous week.
At 11:40 a.m. (0610 GMT), the partially convertible rupee was at 45.36/37 per dollar, from its previous close of 45.515/525. It had been at 45.40 just before the data.
