Ryan Brunn, the 20-year-old maintenance worker and confessed murderer of seven-year-old Jorelys Rivera, was found dead in his prison cell on Thursday when he hanged himself.

Ryan Brunn was found unresponsive in his cell at 4:15 p.m., Georgia Department of Corrections spokeswoman Kristin Stancil told 11Alive News. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 5:37 p.m. of an apparent suicide.

According to 11Alive News, Brunn committed suicide hanging himself within his prison cell. According to the Department of Corrections, an investigation will be conducted in the prison and an autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for Saturday.

The father of Jorelys Rivera, Ricardo Galarza told CNN that Brunn's suicide feel good but, on the other hand, it doesn't because my daughter will never be with me again.

What I wanted was for them to put him in the electric chair and burn him, Galarza told CNN. I would have taken him there myself and prepared it, so he would burn.

Brunn pleaded guilty for all charges for the murder of seven year-old Jorelys Rivera, who lived in the same apartment complex, on Tuesday. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The murder of Jorelys Rivera

Rivera disappeared on Dec. 2 from a playground near the River Ridge apartment community and her body was found in a dumpster three days later.

Brunn was arrested five days later as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation had identified Brunn as the suspect who took the child to a nearby empty apartment from DNA and fingerprints. He was charged with murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, cruelty to children, aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, false imprisonment, abandonment of a dead body, making a false statement and sexual exploitation of children, as investigators found evidence of sexual conduct with a female minor.

The trial of Ryan Brunn

During the court hearing, Brunn said he had found a roller skate belonging to Jorelys, which he took a photo of with his mobile device and hid in a vacant apartment.

I was going to lure her in for sex, Brunn said during his hearing.

Brunn said he cut Jorelys' throat, wrapped her in a garbage bag and beat her with her own roller skate before dumping her body in a dumpster of the apartment complex. Though he remembered the details of the murder, Brunn said he helped in the search for the missing child.

I helped them look for that child, the idiot that I am, he said.
