Nearly three months after Red Flag Releasing acquired the US rights to the Ryan Gosling-produced and narrated documentary, a new trailer for ReGENERATION has surfaced.

The trailer, obtained by the Huffington Post, has Gosling's famous rugged voice playing over shots of protests, classroom discussions and experts talking about what is exactly wrong with today's youth and how they are dealing with social and political causes.

The vast and complicated issues facing today's generation can leave many with the uncertainty that nothing can be done, says Gosling, 31, as shots of saturated media fill the screen.

From hip-hop artist Talib Kweli, to the great Noam Chomsky, Tucker Carlson to the late Howard Zinn, a wide range of experts are dispersed throughout the documentary, which is slated for a limited release on May 3.

The very moment we started exploring the subject of apathy in today's youth, we knew there was something in the air . . . while cynicism prevailed in the national dialogue toward social and political causes, the youth was telling us something very different . . . from Iran, the Arab Spring, to Wisconsin, and now the world-wide 'Occupy' movement, director Phillip Montgomery told The Hollywood Reporter in December.

This is such an electrifying time in our culture and we are so excited to partner . . . to expand the reach of the film. Together it is our hope that 'ReGENERATION' will serve as a call to action as the groundswell of activism grows, he added.

Gosling, who was first linked to the documentary in May 2010, has been spending the last several months in Thailand training and filming Only God Forgives, a picture that reunites him with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn. On Tuesday, new photos of a bloody (it's only movie make-up!) Gosling hit the Web, causing a frenzy among the Canadian actor's fans.

Gosling also has two other films coming out this year: The Gangster Squad, opposite Emma Stone, Sean Penn and Josh Brolin and The Place Beyond the Pines, opposite real-life lady love Eva Mendes and Bradley Cooper.

While ReGENERATION is just getting ready for a major release (along with all the star power Gosling can give), the film actually had its world premiere some two years ago at the Seattle International Film Festival, where it won the Youth Jury Award for Best FutureWave Feature.
