As awards season starts heating up, celebrities rocked the best trends as seen on the spring runways for the red carpet at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday.

Celebrities from the big and small screens gathered on Sunday at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Calif. for the SAG Awards, honoring the best of acting in film and television in Hollywood. Actors and ensembles in 13 categories were presented awards by the Screen Actors Guild union, with Ben Affleck’s “Argo” winning the big Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture award.

But when it comes to fashion, Jennifer Lawrence was the biggest winner on and off the red carpet. Lawrence, who won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for “Silver Linings Playbook,” wore a navy blue Christian Dior dress that some believed split as she was ascending the stairs to accept her award. Turns out, the dress had a sheer lining when it was shown on the runway this past Monday, but the actress had the lining hidden so it wouldn’t look like a tiered gown for the SAG Awards, E! News reported. However, as she was walking, her shoe got stuck to the train and exposed the hidden sheer lining.

The major trend of the night, though, was black and white, showcased by designers like Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors and Alexander Wang for the Spring 2013 season. January Jones adopted this trend in Prabal Gurung along with Michelle Dockery in a vintage black Ralph Rucci gown with sheer side panels, Julianne Moore in a black and white flowered Chanel gown and Julianna Marguiles in Ralph Rucci. Claire Danes, who won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for “Homeland,” also rocked the black and white trend in a one-sleeve black gown by Givenchy with white geometric detailing.

Some starlets opted for just black, like Anne Hathaway, who scored the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role as Fantine in “Les Miserables.” The actress wore a black Giambattista Valli gown with sheer décolletage and sheer tulle gown revealing a short skirt underneath. Tina Fey, who was the winner of the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for “30 Rock,” also dazzled in a black heart-shaped strapless gown by Oscar de la Renta. Fellow funny lady Julie Bowen rocked the black leather trend wearing a dress by Australian designer Johanna Johnson with cap sleeves. Elisabeth Moss of “Mad Men” also channeled the black trend wearing a knee length Dolce and Gabbana dress.

On the opposite spectrum, some leading ladies looked angelic in white like Kerry Washington in a jeweled corset dress by Rodarte, Sofia Vergara in Donna Karan, Naomi Watts in Marchesa and Kiernan Shipka in a white A-line Oscar de la Renta dress that hit just above her ankle.

However, some actresses opted for color like Jessica Chastain in a red Alexander McQueen dress, Amanda Seyfried in a navy blue Zac Posen gown, Sally Field in a purple J. Mendel dress, Lea Michele in an electric pink Valentino gown, Marion Cotillard in a white and blue Christian Dior dress and Jennifer Garner in a gold sequined Oscar de la Renta strapless dress.
