The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date is drawing near. The South Korean tech company is now rumored to hold Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event in August to unleash the Galaxy Note 7 with curved edge display.

According to the leaked snapshot of the media invitation of the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event revealed by SamMobile, the upcoming Note phablet will be unveiled on Aug. 2. The event will be held at the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York. The invitation further states that the event will be livestreamed through the Samsung Mobile YouTube channel.

The text on the image reads “the next edge is just around the corner” which indicates the Note 7 may sport a dual edge curved screen. Hence, it is not clear whether Samsung will launch a Galaxy Note 7 with a regular screen or a Galaxy Note 7 with dual edge curved display on Aug. 2. Other rumors claim that Samsung may unveil both Galaxy Note 7 and Galaxy Note 7 Edge in August.

Previous speculations have revealed that Samsung will not be using “Note 6” name for the successor of Galaxy Note 5. The Galaxy S series smartphones were launched as Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Hence, in order to keep the same numbering as Galaxy S series smartphones, the upcoming phablet will probably arrive as “Note 7.”

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch Quad HD curved edge screen. It will be powered by Snapdragon 823 chipset along with 6 GB of RAM. It is likely to be fueled by upgraded version of Exynos 8890 chipset in select regions.

Like the Galaxy S7 series smartphones, the Galaxy Note 7 is expected to sport a water and dust resistant chassis. It is expected to feature an iris scanner, a USB Type-C port and a 4,000 mAh battery.
