The HTC 10 comes wrapped in a metallic unibody chassis, which gives the flagship a premium look. Samsung’s Galaxy S7, on the other hand, features a mix of glass and metal construction. However, the glass usage is predominant.

A new torture test video posted on YouTube pits the Galaxy S7 against the HTC 10 to determine which one of them survives a slew of intense drop tests. The video utilizes professional drop test mechanism, Phone Arena noted.

Handsets are dropped from a height of 3.3 feet on their back, side, bottom and front. If a device survives any one of the aforesaid drop tests, it will be subjected to other brutal drops until the handsets get damaged to the level that it cannot make a phone call.

When the handsets were dropped on their back, the metal-clad HTC 10 survived like a pro when compared to the Galaxy S7. However, when it comes to bottom drop test, both the phones apparently responded in a similar fashion. But then, the HTC 10 apparently looked a bit more damaged after the fall.

There was not much difference in the side drop test either. However, deep scratch marks were visible on both HTC 10 and Galaxy S7 after the impact.

Following this, the handsets were made to fall display first. Needless to say, this test does maximum damage to the handset. After dropping them down, both the handsets’ display cracked spectacularly. Nevertheless, the HTC 10 fared a little better because it was still able to make phone calls. The Galaxy S7, on the other hand, died immediately after a single frontal drop.

Keeping the professional drop test mechanism in mind, the HTC 10 was further tested as it was able to make calls. In this case, the tester continued dropping the handset from a height until the phone died on its own. The surprising part is that the HTC 10 was able to withstand a whopping 32 additional front-facing drops.

Here is the torture test video showing both HTC 10 and Samsung Galaxy S7.
