Unlike other OEMs that stick to standard screen sizes, Samsung experimented with the humongous tablet “Galaxy View” by fitting an 18.4-inch display. The new tablet, which went on sale only a couple of weeks back in the U.S., can now be purchased with a significant discount via Amazon.

Sam Mobile first noticed that, within 2 weeks of hitting the store shelves, the Samsung Galaxy View’s price has been cut by $100 in Amazon. This retailer is now offering the device for $497.99, which translates to 17 percent discount and buyers will save $102 from this deal. The original price of the slate used to be $599.99.

Amazon is offering the device in Black and White hues. Upon ordering the device today, free shipping service can be availed and the estimated shipping time frame, according to the retailer, is between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1.

Meanwhile, Android Police found out that other than Amazon, Best Buy, B&H Photo Video, Adorama and Samsung itself has listed the device with $100 off. However, there is no official confirmation available to ascertain if this is a permanent price cut.

Key features of the device include a mammoth touch screen, video-centered user interface and a big battery capacity of 5,700 mAh, guaranteeing up to 8 hours of video playback. The Galaxy View is reportedly considered as the “largest Android mobile device on the market.” As the tablet is huge, the company has packed a built-in handle (aka two-way stand) for support. The slate weighs 2.65 kg and it is 11.9 mm thick.

Under the hood, an octa-core (Exynos 7580) processor, clocked at 1.6 GHz, powers the device and it is backed by 2 GB of RAM. On the software front, Android 5.1 Lollipop OS runs the slate with Media UX skin. This tablet comes equipped with 32 GB and 64 GB of built-in storage choices with a microSD card slot to facilitate expansion.

When it comes to camera specification, the Samsung Galaxy View sports a modest 2.1-megapixel secondary shooter. There is no primary camera on this desktop-like tablet. Interested buyers should note that this device supports LTE, apart from the standard connectivity options.
