SanDisk Corp reported higher-than-expected revenue, fueled by strong demand in Asia and for mobile devices.

The company on Thursday reported net income for the fourth quarter, ended January 2, of $485.5 million, or $2.01 a share, up from $339.5 million, or $1.45 cents a share, in the year-ago period.

Excluding items, SanDisk earned $1.27 a share.

Revenue rose 7 percent to $1.33 billion, versus Wall Street's target of $1.31 billion.
