At Sunday night's Teen Choice Awards, supposed rivals Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato took some rather friendly pictures together.

The singers have been best friends since before they both became famous on the Disney Channel. They each had their own hit series and music career developing side by side. In 2009, they starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie "Princess Protection Program" and recorded the single "One And The Same" as a duet.

However, it was reported that the their friendship fell apart as Lovato was experiencing personal issues.

The Disney singer was reported to have been battling with her recent break-up with singer Joe Jonas, pressure from the media, and an eating disorder she had been struggling with for approximately six years. When Lovato allegedly punched a backup singer from her Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam tour, friends and family knew it was time to get the singer help.

"I was just lying to everyone. My managers, the people I was working with. I was lying about eating, and just being happy," Lovato revealed on On Air With Ryan Seacrest Tuesday morning.

"It was affecting every area of my life. I was being cranky, I was irritable, not pleasant really to work with. I became a little brat on set, and I just had so much growing up to do," she continued.

When asked about her break up with Joe Jonas and how it might have contributed to her meltdown, she said she would not put the blame on a guy: "There was so much other stuff in my life."

Lovato did have other things going on. It was reported, even before her three-month rehab stay, that the singer had self-mutilation issues due to bullying and other circumstances growing up. "There are times when even if you've known someone for a long time, you change," Lovato was reported saying in November 2010."Just because we were best friends doesn't mean we're always going to stay best friends."

Selena and Demi had been separated for some time, but from the looks of their interaction on the Teen Choice blue carpet, the love is still there. Selena and Demi may be those childhood best friends who actually stay best friends.

Lovato still admits that she has not fully recovered. "I am still on a personal journey dealing with my own issues each and every day, but the best advice I can give to anyone going through a rough patch is to never be afraid to ask for help."

"I couldn't have made it through the incredible journey that I went through without your help and your strength that got me through it... " Lovato said to the audience Sunday night. "You guys are what got me through this last year. I love you so much. Love is louder. I love you guys so much. Thank you for much."
