Republican senator Olympia Snowe announced Tuesday that she will vote in favor of the Senate Finance Committee health care reform bill.

My vote today, is my vote today, she said moments ago. It doesn't forecast what my vote will be tomorrow, said Snowe indicating that she possibly may not support the sweeping healthcare bill all the way down the line, the Wall Street Journal reported.

When history calls, history calls, she said in announcing her plans after a long recitation of the problems confronting the American healthcare system, including rising costs and the swelling ranks of the uninsured.

Snowe is the first Republican on Capitol Hill to show support for the President Obama's sweeping healthcare campaign.

The committee will vote today on the bill.
