Before these surprising decisions were made, Harlee and Wozniak first tried to come up with an explanation to appease their teammates. Harlee claimed that she only worked with the FBI and Stahl (Warren Kole) because she was being blackmailed. But this wasn’t the whole truth. Harlee couldn’t really be trusted by her peers because she recorded her friends during their conversation about the heist so she could protect herself.

Elsewhere in the episode, Harlee and Wozniak also dealt with Bianci (Ritchie Coster) and Julia Ayres (Anna Gunn). With the former, Harlee came up with a plan to pit Bianci’s hitman against his boss, but he refused. When their initial plan didn’t work, Harlee and Wozniak decided to make it seem as though the hitman sought help from Stahl. The latter agreed to work with them as long as they will find a way to give him his target, Julia.

Unfortunately, Harlee and Wozniak didn’t follow through with their agreement with Stahl. In the end, the angered FBI exec realized that he cannot get answers from the duo. Luckily for him, he planted a camera into Harlee’s laptop so he can still track her down.

“Shades of Blue” Season 2 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
