Here's what fans can expect from “Shadowhunters” Season 2. Freeform

“Shadowhunters” Season 2 has been in the works for quite some time now, and fans are eager to take a peek at what’s in store for them in the next installment. Even though details have been rather scarce, some fans will finally get treated to the first look at the upcoming season of the hit Freeform show.

A clip teasing Season 2 of the show based on Cassandra Clare’s “The Mortal Instruments” will be unveiled at this year’s New York Comic Con. Aside from the clip, a panel including the show’s producers Todd Slavkin, McG and Darren Swimmer and the cast will also be held. While the teaser will be exclusively debuted during the event, there is a big chance that the sneak peek will also be released online soon after the conference.

Another thing fans should keep an eye out for is the premiere date for the upcoming season. While it has not been confirmed that the air date of the installment will be revealed during the event, there is a huge chance that they will drop the bombshell there, along with other important information connected to Season 2.

The next installment of the series -- which stars Katherine McNamara (Clary), Dominic Sherwood (Jace), Harry Shum, Jr. (Magnus), Matthew Daddario (Alec), Alberto Rosende (Simon) and Emeraude Toubia (Isabelle), among many others -- will center on the Shadowhunters’ struggle to keep everything and everyone safe from Valentine’s (Alan van Sprang) growing power. Loyalty and betrayal will be huge themes for the season.

Additionally, there will also be a lot of interaction and connection between Shadowhunters and members of the Downworld in the upcoming season.

A couple of new characters, which will be introduced in the upcoming season, had already been announced. Sebastian, a character, whom fans have been expecting to see on the show, will also make an appearance, according to the series’ showrunner Slavkin.

“Shadowhunters” Season 2 will premiere next year.
