Sony Ericsson announced new phones in its popular Walkman branded line, with three optimized for use in China and South East Asian markets, and one for use in the Americas.

Three phones are designed for use in Asian markets, with Chinese character input, as well as Thai and English text recognition, the company said.

The Z558 will serve as a personal digital assistant (PDA), offering organization and planning software, while the other phones - the W830, the W958c, and the American targeted Z550a - will focus primarily on media playback.

The company did not give a release date for the phones.
