The Dow industrials and the S&P 500 opened higher on Friday after Citigroup said it did not need any more government capital infusions.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 28.11 points, or 0.39 percent, to 7,198.17. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 2.90 points, or 0.39 percent, to 753.64. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> dropped 1.21 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,424.89.
