A new “Spider-Man: Homecoming” trailer was recently released at the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

During the prestigious awards show, Zendaya and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” star Tom Holland presented the clip that showed Holland’s character, Peter Parker, exposing his superhero identity to his friend, Ned (Jacob Batalon). In the clip, Peter sneaks back into his and Ned’s room in Queens while still wearing his Spider-Man suit. To his surprise, Ned is still wide awake, and he sees him wearing the attire.

Peter begs Ned to keep what he saw a secret from everyone, most especially to his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei). Peter also tells Ned that if his Aunt May finds out that a lot of people have been trying to kill him every night, she would definitely force him to stop being Spider-Man. Unfortunately, a very shocked Ned couldn’t guarantee that he would keep what he saw secret. “I’ll level with you on this. I don’t think I can keep this a secret. This is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me,” Ned exclaimed.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” will pick up after the events that took place in “Captain America: Civil War.” Peter has just returned to Queens, and he is struggling to find a balance between his secret identity and newfound heroism. In “Captain America: Civil War,” Peter received guidance from his mentor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).

Zendaya also stars in the upcoming movie as Peter’s classmate, Michelle. She will be joined by Michael Keaton’s character, Vulture, who will threaten to destroy New York, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, “Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts opened up about the film and how different and similar it will be to the “Spider-Man” movies that were released years ago. “We’ve seen the Marvel Universe from the very dramatic penthouse perspective of Tony Stark; now we see what it looks like on the ground through the eyes of a 15-year-old,” he said.

But in the end, the two-hour film, no matter how different the perspective may be, will still feature the fundamentals of storytelling.

Holland also talked about his experience headlining such a huge franchise and said that he learned a lot from starring in “Captain America: Civil War.” “I was able to see how professional Chris Evans behaves, how Robert Downey Jr. is always on time and always prepared – it gave me a blueprint of what to do and how to act,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

And even though it required hard work, Watts and Holland were both on the same page when it comes to making “Spider-Man: Homecoming” a great studio project. In fact, there were some instances wherein Watts was so excited over the franchise that he had to constantly remind himself that a movie is a movie and with it comes a great responsibility.

Working with A-listers in the industry also made things more exciting for the director. “Every once and a while, there’d be a moment when you sort of accidentally step back from the situation and realize who you are talking to. I had to ignore it and go back to work. They’re such great actors and they have fun doing it so you’re able to have fun with them,” he said.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is slated to hit theaters in the United States on July 7.
