As Marvel prepares its “all-new, all-different” lineup of comics, Gameloft has decided to join in the hype, announcing that “all-new” costumes for Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 will be coming to “Spider-Man Unlimited.” The game will also adapt the critically acclaimed “Spider-Island” event as part of the storyline while adding environments based on the event.

The new costumes for Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 will debut in October, after the big “Secret Wars” event that will supposedly change the Marvel universe. This will result in the vast majority of the comics jumping eight months later and giving the characters new status quos, with Peter Parker (Spider-Man) now being a high-tech superhero, while Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099) now works for him.

Marvel was quick to capitalize on the synergy the company shares with Gameloft, as “Spider-Man Unlimited” will be the first Marvel game featuring these new character designs. In addition to these two new characters, Marvel has announced that 10 more will debut during the “Spider-Island” event of the mobile game, one of whom will be Mary Jane Watson, who was infected with Spider-Powers then.

While serving as a throwback to the 2011 event, the “Spider-Island” update can also be seen as an introduction to the storyline for those planning to pick up the new “Spider-Island” mini-series that is tied with “Secret Wars,” as reported by Whatever a Spider Can. The new series stars Agent Venom as he tries to survive a spider-infested New York with superheroes who are now under the control of the Queen. Fans will remember her as the villain from the original storyline by Dan Slott, Humberto Ramos and Stefano Caselli.

Recently, “Spider-Man Unlimited” introduced a character class called Titan, which is more powerful than the legendary class. Fans can expect a number of new Titan characters to be added as well as environments that will be based on the “Spider-Island” event.

The new “Spider-Man Unlimited” update comes out this month and will feature the “All-New” Spider-Man as well as the “All-New” Spider-Man 2099. The game is a free download for those who haven’t had the opportunity to play it yet.
